Community Gatherings

WIN hosts monthly gatherings that combine learning, discussion, and social connection. These events provide an opportunity for families to come together, strengthen relationships, and reflect on values that support personal and community development.

Educational Programs

Empowering Our Community Through Knowledge
At the Woodlea Islamic Network (WIN), we believe that a healthy community is one that never stops learning. Our educational programs are designed to be a bridge—connecting timeless Islamic values with the very real, modern challenges we face in our daily lives.
Whether we are discussing the future of technology or the importance of mental well-being, our goal is always the same: to provide a safe space for honest conversation, personal growth, and mutual respect.

Wellbeing & Resilience

Life can be complex, and we believe in addressing it holistically. We host expert-led discussions on:

  • Mental Health: Understanding well-being through an Islamic lens to support our families and ourselves.

  • Substance Abuse Awareness & Recovery: Learning from survivors and experts about the impact of drugs and the journey toward recovery. We then ground this in an Islamic perspective.

  • Financial Well-being: Practical education to help our community manage their resources and plan for a stable future.

  • Social Media Impact: We host open dialogues about the "Digital Self." We discuss the psychological effects of social media algorithms on our youth, paired with Islamic values of modesty (Haya) and the importance of protecting one's time and heart from negative influences.

Navigating the Digital Age

Technology is changing how we live and raise our children. We help parents and youth stay ahead of the curve:

  • Responsible AI: Exploring the ethics of Artificial Intelligence and the need for a responsible, human-centered approach to new tech.

  • Social Media Impact: Partnering with local educators to discuss how "likes" affect our real lives and how to protect our youth from negative digital influences.

Cultural & Interfaith Connection

We believe that a strong community starts with a simple conversation. We’re all about bringing people together to share our stories and learn from one another. Here are two of our favorite recent moments with the Melton Chinese community:

  • Unity in Diversity: A Cultural Deep Dive: A vibrant intercultural workshop where WIN and the Melton Chinese Friendship Association (MCFA) shared the heart of our heritage. We provided a deep dive into Islamic values and traditional South Asian cuisine, while our Chinese neighbours hosted Tai Chi demonstrations, folk dances, and an introduction to the beauty of the Chinese language.

  • Celebration of Heritage, Spring Festival & Tradition: A collaborative celebration focused on hands-on learning and mutual respect between our two communities. The day featured interactive dumpling-making workshops and Tai Chi, alongside storytelling sessions that bridged our cultures and the distribution of the Quran in Chinese translation to promote genuine understanding.
