Talent Lab — Build a Tale Genie

⛑️KIDS IN ACTION

Following the success of Buzz Zone and The Great Escape, our community returned for the next chapter of Talent Lab — and this time, the children didn't just solve a challenge, they built one of their own: a storytelling AI Agent they taught from scratch.

The mission was simple to explain and wonderfully tricky to master. Each team took a famous fairy tale, gave it a bold twist — a kind, vegetarian wolf; a witch who was really a baker giving gingerbread away — and then taught an AI "Genie" to tell their new version, and only their version.

Teams were a mix of ages, and that was the point. Younger children were brilliant at dreaming up twists and testing the Genie with tricky questions. Older children stepped up to lead, write, and make sure everyone had a job. Every role mattered. Every voice counted.

The magic moment came when a Genie was asked something it hadn't been taught. Instead of guessing, it simply said, "Hmm, I don't know that part of the story yet!" The team then added the missing fact, asked again — and watched their Genie learn, right before their eyes.

And there was the real lesson, tucked inside the fun: an AI only knows what you teach it, and the most trustworthy answer is sometimes an honest "I don't know."

But perhaps the proudest moment came at the very end. Continuing a tradition our community holds close, the winning teams chose to give back — contributing a generous portion of their prize money to charity. It was a beautiful reminder that the best thing to do with a blessing is to share it.

As always with Talent Lab, the real win wasn't the cleverest Genie, or even the prize. It was the character built along the way — teamwork, patience, creativity, honesty, and generosity.

After all, the children didn't just build a clever machine. They learnt that the truth is always worth telling — and that a blessing grows when it's shared. 🧞✨
